Disney has announced that Idina Menzel will be one of the recipients of the Disney Legends Award at this year’s ceremony! The Disney Legends Award is given to an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to the Disney legacy. Congratulations, Idina, on this well-deserved award! You truly brought Elsa to life in a way that touched billions of people around the world.
As we know, Idina stars as Elsa in Frozen and Frozen II. Idina’s performance of the Oscar- and Grammy-winning song “Let It Go” became an international phenomenon, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and helped launch Frozen and Frozen II on their way to becoming the two highest-grossing animated movies of all time. Her songs have amassed billions of streams and she also reprised the role of Elsa in Disney’s Ralph Breaks The Internet and appeared in numerous animated shorts, theme park experiences and more. She also appeared as Nancy Tremaine in Enchanted and also reprised the role in the Disney+ sequel, Disenchanted, out this Thanksgiving.
The awards ceremony will take place at the D23 Expo kick-off event on Friday, September 9, at 10:30 a.m. in Hall D23 inside the Anaheim Convention Center. The event will be livestreamed and will feature musical performances, special guests, and surprises for the audience, including a special performance by cast members from Disney On Broadway’s productions of Aladdin and The Lion King, and The North American Tour of Frozen.
This year’s honorees also include her FROZEN castmates, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad among others. Will Frozen 3 also be announced at the event? Time will tell!
